Mr. Mendoza has been a significant athlete in the saber event. He is the first and only Filipino medalist in a world-class A fencing competition (World Cup) and the Philippines’ top gold medal producer in fencing. He has a positive name recall from fellow fencer athletes and fencing coaches internationally even after the period covered. He has become a byword and a name to reckon with in the Men’s Fencing Sabre Events category in the South East Asian region.

Mr. Mendoza as a national team coach has proven his coaching skills and extensive knowledge of the sport, which contributed to the victorious team's performances and improved its gold medal production in the 2019 SEA Games.
