TFC Welcomes
Coach Michael Kim.
The Fencing Center is proud to announce Coach Michael Kim as its new Saber Coach, bringing world-class experience and leadership to guide our growing saber program.
Coach Michael has spent more than 25 years coaching and developing athletes and coaches at the highest levels of fencing, including serving as a coach at Yale University. His record of success extends far beyond the collegiate level: he has coached at Tim Morehouse, Zeta Fencing, Scarsdale, managed fencing clubs, and led many teams to world championship competitions.
A driven and accomplished leader, Coach Michael’s athletes have earned over 200 national and international medals, and his coaching has consistently prepared fencers for the NCAA pathway. He has successfully placed dozens of students on NCAA Division I and Division III fencing teams, helping them balance athletic excellence with academic achievement. His leadership includes coaching the U.S. Women’s Saber Cadet Teams to four consecutive bronze medals and a silver medal at the World Cup, a remarkable record of consistency and excellence on the international stage.
Beyond medals and rankings, Coach Michael is deeply committed to the values of fencing—discipline, sportsmanship, and personal growth. He emphasizes the development of both athletes and instructors, ensuring that his programs foster not only competitive success but also the academic and personal growth of his students. His holistic approach includes monitoring academic performance and mentoring student-athletes as they navigate the journey toward collegiate recruitment.
The Fencing Center is excited to welcome Coach Michael Kim and to continue building one of the nation’s strongest saber programs. With his leadership, experience, and proven ability to elevate athletes to the NCAA and international levels, our saber fencers are well-positioned for a future filled with success both on and off the strip.
Welcome, Coach Kim to The Fencing Center family!.
