Betsy Madrid discovered fencing in her junior high’s intramural sports program, and was a volunteer instructor until she was accepted in San Jose’s State University psychology program. She is a co-founder of the SJSU fencing club in 2014, during her time as president participating in individual and team events in the Northern California Intercollegiate Fencing League competitions. She began to teach at TFC and earned her Moniteur de Fleuret in 2017 at the USFCA’s coaches clinic held in San Francisco. After graduating with a BS in Psychology, stills remains involved with SJSU as an assistant coach and teaches the level 1 class at TFC.
